Bethany Furubayashi
_
Development Committee Chair
Bethany brings over ten years of development experience in Seattle's independent schools, having served as a classroom volunteer, board chairperson, auction consultant, and currently as Director of Development at Epiphany School. Bethany especially enjoys working with volunteers; she is a big believer in bringing different perspectives to the table in order to work together toward a common goal. Bethany's free time is spent with her husband enjoying the empty-nester lifestyle now that both their children are in college and taking full advantage of all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Bethany holds B.A. degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from Indiana University in Bloomington.

In 1969, I got out of the air force and bought a house in Mount Baker close to Franklin High School which is where my brother Tom was a junior. I spent fifteen years at the Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company, then started my own software company in 1986. In January of the next year. I started volunteering in the office of Griffin Home for Boys, a part of Friends of Youth. Then in 1990 I began volunteering with the residents. I am also a member of Southeast Seattle Crime Prevention Council (SSCPC) which involves working with the police to expand communication between the community and the police department. I have enjoyed attending traditional family vacations at Leavenworth, as well as spending time with my great nephews and nieces. In May of 2008 I was elected treasurer for MBCC. In 2009 I was elected a member of the board. I was elected secretary in 2010 and 2011, which is my current position.
I am interested in what is going on in the community around me, and frequently volunteer in public engagements and meetings. I would like to see more people become engaged with their community club.

Colin Macdonald
Parks & Open Space Committee Chair
Colin is the central point of contact for all our Parks and Open Spaces work. He coordinates with the numerous volunteer Parks and Open Spaces leads working collaboratively with neighborhood volunteers to beautify our recreational and green spaces.
Dawn Counts
Board Member at Large
I moved to Seattle (a place I'd never been before) spring 1975 and never left. My daughter, Nicole, and I have lived in Capital Hill, Ravenna, and Roosevelt districts, until we bought a small home in Mt Baker fall of 1997. My grandson, Curtis, was born 3 months later and we all love it here! The parks, schools, walk/jog trails, and community activities are part of what keeps us here. The availability of local community centers and excellent sports teams (he plays both basketball & football) are another reason. I've always been active in volunteer work, and sit on the Mount Baker Board & Clubhouse Committee, and also Prospect Enrichment Preschool Board.
Lee Stanton
President/Board Chair
_ Lee, an architect, and his wife, Beth, an artist, have lived Mount Baker for over 24 years, and are on their second home in the neighborhood. In that time, they have raised three kids, three dogs and numerous cats. All of them count themselves really lucky to live in Seattle, and to call Mount Baker home. In his day job, Lee is a registered architect with a sole proprietorship, specializing in architectural consulting and construction project management.
Lee first got involved in the Club when he helped to re-build the Clubhouse after the 1992 arson fire, and then continued on as VP of Clubhouse for several years. He particularly enjoys getting to know the many neighbors he meets through his current role as the Chair of the MBCC Board.
Lee thinks of his board work as a natural extension of his professional background: architects deal with the intangibles of space and light; project managers deal with those of time and money; board leadership deals with teams and personalities…. and all are richly gratifying when they are successful in meeting their goals!

Rebecca Laszlo
Communications Chair
_
I’ve served on the MBCC Board of Directors since 2009, first
as Secretary of MBCC and now as Communications Chair. I am editor-in-chief of
The Mount Baker View. My other MBCC interests are cultural programs like
Harvest the Arts and helping with Development.
I’m passionate about and strongly committed to the nonprofit sector. I come from a high technology background, including 15 years at Microsoft. I’ve spent the last 18 months on a sabbatical devoting my time to researching the possibility of entering the leadership ranks of the nonprofit sector. I was raised in North Carolina, lived in California, then settled in Seattle in 1988. I enjoy “cultural tourism” in places as varied as Vietnam, Spain, or Western Washington together with my partner of 26 years.

_ Rob Mohn (at right in this family photo) moved to Mt. Baker in 1988. He and his wife Shelley
raised their son Charlie here. After a career in environmental and engineering

business district. He bought and restored several historic buildings and also
completed a new commercial development. He now manages the properties and runs
the Shirley Marvin Extended-Stay Hotel.
Sue Cary

and John have been active in neighborhood activities over the years, and Sue
re-joined the Board in 2009. She currently chairs the Zoning, Land Use, Planning and Transportation Committee. Sue works at Capitol Hill Housing, where she is the Director of Asset Management and has recently assumed responsibility for the organization’s 12th Avenue Arts project currently under development.
